    LBMS Grade 5 to 6 Family Transition Night

    On January 30th, LBMS welcomed incoming 6th grade students and their families for our Grade 5 to 6 Transition Night. The event featured a presentation by school counselor Dr. Ama Darkeh and K-12 Coordinator of School Counseling Mrs. Jaclyn McMahon. Guests enjoyed musical performances by our talented student musicians and music teacher Mr. Danny Neri, student-led tours hosted by National Junior Honor Society members, a department fair organized by our directors, and a helpful session on navigating Google Classroom by LBMS Social Studies Teacher Dr. John Marr.     LBMS Drama Club Presented Annie, Jr.

    The LBMS Drama Club presented Annie, Jr. for family and friends in the middle school’s auditorium for two evening performances on Jan. 23 and 24. With a cast and crew of close to sixty students, to include an orphan ensemble and servants and New Yorkers ensemble, the classic show followed little orphan Annie through song and dance as she tried to find her parents.  

    Sixteen musical performances included favorites such as, Hard Knock Life, You Won’t Be an Orphan for Long and Tomorrow. Lead characters included Mira Mordetsky as Annie, Peyton Waine as Oliver Warbucks and Ellie Steier and Miss Hannigan. The production team included director Scott Scheinson, Assistant Director/Musical Director Christina Farrell, set design and construction was Alison Katulka, Brian Pross and the LBMS Art Club and LBMS Wood Club, Teaching Assistant was Eydie Yarwood and Molly Abrams was student choreographer.

    National History Day Projects Presented

    Long Beach Middle School seventh grade students and families were recently invited to view their National History Day project submissions. Students did an impressive job researching and presenting a wide variety of topics, including the Civil Rights Movement, Women’s Rights, the Holocaust, and the Environmental Protection Agency, to name a few.

    Presentations included display boards, websites, and documentaries.  We are very proud of all seventh graders and appreciate the students and families who attended this year’s event. Special thanks to Assistant Principal Mr. Christopher Francaviglia, the LBMS Seventh Grade Social Studies Teachers, all staff who supported students with their research, and all staff that served on our scoring committee.

    LBMS Robotics Held First Competition

    The Long Beach Middle School Robotics Club recently held its first competition. Four internal teams competed in a variety of trials increasing in complexity and difficulty.

    Congratulations to all the participants and special thanks to Long Beach Middle School Technology teachers and LBMS Robotics Club Team Coaches, Mr. Brian Pross and Mr. Michael Santoro for organizing and facilitating the competition. More than 30 middle schoolers participate in the weekly Robotics Club.

    LBMS 2024 Winter Concerts

    The sixth, seventh and eighth grade Band, Orchestra, and Chorus as well as specials music groups, including Chamber Orchestra, WindEnsemble, LBMS Singers, and Jazz Band delighted families, staff, and community members early in December with their outstanding musical performances celebrating the season.   

    Special thanks to all the LBMS student performers for their hard work and to the school’s music educators, Mrs. Farrell, Mr. Lobenstein, Mr. Marks, and Mr. Neri for their commitment and dedication to Long Beach students.  We are also grateful to the LBMS families and community members for their continued support of our students.
